About
About Our Chain Business
Operating a highly unique business devoted to manufacturing chains using all methods
We operate the sole business in Japan capable of manufacturing chains by all methods: flash-butt welding, forging, and casting. Sumitomo Heavy Industries Himatex Co., Ltd. as it exists today builds on the lengthy histories and traditions of predecessors Nippon Chain & Machinery Co., Ltd. and Osaka Chain & Machinery Co., Ltd. We have built a record of demonstrating unique originality, leveraging the technologies and experience we have accumulated over the years to offer as our principal line of products anchor chains for naval vessels (solid-stud type), steel chains for navigation beacons (thickened long open-type), chains for general merchant ships (ordinary welded-type), and related accessories.

Product Shape
Chain Shapes

Solid-stud chains (Type A)
Chains with solid, integrated forms free of separate studs or joints, made with forged punched links with studs in the center alternated with forged half links. Demonstrating particularly impressive resistance under highly corrosive and abrasive conditions, they offer long service lives, facilitating plans mindful of total cost performance.

Long open-type chains (Type LO)
Hybrid chains
Primarily used for buoying applications, these chains enable the reduction of running costs, extending the two-year replacement cycle of conventional chains to three to four years with the development of their material, which offers superior corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
SizeLong open-type: φ30–φ46
Hybrid type: φ76

Stud-fitted (Type C)
Chains manufactured by bending round steel bars into C shapes and welding them, then fitting them with studs and applying pressing machines to them. The relative simplicity of the production process allows for quick delivery times. They can also be manufactured in customers’ desired lengths and in special combinations.
